Last week I was at a dinner party with several couples and conversation wound its way to Reasonable Dieting. After I used the phrase "normalize your relationship with food " one "gentlemen" laughed at me, and declared that he thought it was a very weird concept, "You have a relationship with food?" he asked sarcastically.

But I'm guessing you know exactly what I mean.
Am I right?

Do you want to normalize your relationship with food?

Many women who contact me start by saying, "Sandra, I just never want to think about food again."

You know what I tell them?

Sorry. That ain't gonna happen. Not thinking about food is not "normal" and besides, there is no auto-pilot when it comes to a healthy calorie-appropriate diet. Not in this day and age.

But I will promise that I can help you normalize your relationship with food. I will promise you that you can have peace of mind when it comes to your diet and body.

How?

1) By teaching to you pay a little bit of attention to food every day. You never need to obsess over it again. But you never get to "check-out" and bury your head in the sand either.

2) By teaching you how to transition from one "diet" to another, or to put it another way, how to adjust any diet to fit into your life as opposed to try to make your life fit into your diet.

Will you be dieting forever?

You may not want to hear this, but maintaining your weight after weight loss still requires "dieting" -- that is, if dieting means eating differently than the rest of society eats... or dieting means eating with planful attention.

Even if you could follow one diet for the duration of your weight loss, it would not prepare you for maintenance, when you will inevitably need to make adjustments to a "new diet."

I'm not going to kid you, you can't completely normalize your relationship with food in eight weeks, but you can lose weight in a manner that sets the foundation for it, instead of the traditional way of weight loss, which really just sets you up to obsess about food and then bury your head.

This is your chance to practice what you've probably heard me call top/down bottom up dieting. Top down? Getting our head and heart in the right place. Bottom up? Doing the planning and preparation. I want to show you that you can lose weight even when not "following a diet."

I love teaching people this method of weight loss that focuses on affirmations, mindful eating and learning to trust yourself with food, etc.

 It drives me nuts that the philosophies on dieting are divided between those who believe
(a) that dieting is almost evil and that one should never "go on a diet" (i.e. count calories, follow a menu) and
(b) those that obsessively find a diet bandwagon to hop on and never acknowledge that there are many aspects besides strictly following a diet that need to be addressed to keep the weight off.

So you can see how this makes perfect sense, right?

You're not going to have to listen to anyone bellyaching because she can't get into her skinny jeans and then find out she is talking about a size 8.

  Pounds to Lose -- Support Group Calls

~~ Personally facilitated by Sandra Ahten.
~~ 60 minutes w/ a 20 minute presentation at the beginning of each call.
~~ During the call each participant has time for personal accountability check-in with Sandra and the group.
~~Group size limited to 12 maximum.
~~ Weekly for eight weeks. Will start in late June. Members will have input as to day/date.

After you register I'll be contacting you and the other participants to find a time that works for everyone.

~~ Calls are recorded and available for downloading or listening on your computer for one week.

At least one support group each week will be recorded and made available each week for later listening. These will be easily downloadable

Every member will enter her weight/ weight loss and report on fulfillment with three other weekly goals that you (and I) have agreed upon for the week. For maximum accountability, a little competitiveness and for support -- your chart is available for the other members to view, but you can remain anonymous.

FAQ

What will I do for support when the 8-week program is over?

You'll have the option of ongoing support with the women in your group.

What if the group calls times won't work for me?

If we can not find a time that the calls work for you and everyone in the group -- you will have the option of a refund, going down a step to the Silver Package (and listening to the calls later) or going up a step to the VIP plan, (with personally scheduled coaching calls.)

What if I have to occasionally miss a call?

Of course in eight weeks everyone will have to miss some of the calls. I personally would still choose the Ultimate package and take advantage of the calls that you can be on and listen in later on the ones that you miss.

What if I can't afford the Ultimate Package right now?

Then take advantage of the Silver Package now. But seriously... you really want to be on the calls if possible. You need personal answers and I want to be able to connect with your personally to make sure we have addressed any issues that have been barriers to your success in the past. If you could have done this alone before, you would have already done it. Do your self a favor and connect with me.. Is there an opportunity for additional personal support from Sandra?

My hourly rate is $120 per hour, however, during your time in any of the programs I will be offering consultations at $45 per 1/2 hour.
